Alan Grayson: Because that whole democracy thing will really kick you in the ass when you aren’t looking: you can’t always buy a seat (just ask DCCC and Joe Garcia). Grayson ran a terrific campaign, and he really gets that campaigns are about “who is for you” not the other way around.
Dan Gelber: A man who as House Minority Leader helped Fl democrats make significant inroads into taking back the legislature will also be joining the state senate. A significant step for someone looking to join the US Senate. He also fought Charlie to extend early voting hours in Florida, and won.
Steve Schale: When they said it couldn’t be done, Steve Schale did it and did it right. He lead Obama to victory through Florida, the first northerner to win Florida since FDR, gaining significant knowledge about how to win in our changing state.
Charlie Crist: Seriously, what the hell was this guy thinking? Not only did he fail to be any help to John McCain in Florida, he seemed like couldn’t decide if he wanted to at all. He predicted a win, but then skipped out on Election Day events. He said “live and let live” then voted for Amenmendt 2, allowing himself to change his mind AND not get credit for victory. Charlie may be focused on political opportunism — but wasn’t very good at it after the primaries.
The Amendment 2 Folk: And Alex Sink is unfortunately in this category. Amendment 2 passed and will become part of Florida’s constitution, delaying gay rights in this state for a long while.
Christine Jennings: Seriously, she deserved to go down hard. Now, some may not be of the same opinion, but she ran a terrible campaign. Jennings came close in 2006, there was no real reason that she should have gone down so hard except for pure incompetence.
Tim Mahoney: Mahoney who had been tossed around as a possible Senate contender against Mel in 2010 just totally blew it. He could have come out of 2008, defending his seat, as a true south Florida heavy-weight. He simply blew it.
Karen Thurman: Well, because no one was thanking her this morning. Enough said.
